Role of EFL Learners’ Perceptions of Task Difficulty in Complexity, Accuracy and Fluency: An Exploratory Case Study

چکیده

This paper presents an investigation conducted in a public university central Mexico into the possible influence of learners’ perceptions task difficulty (TD) on levels complexity, accuracy and fluency (CAF) during performance three tasks (personal information, narrative decision-making tasks). Firstly, four learner pairs performed tasks, their CAF were measured. Secondly, participants interviewed retrospectively about which they perceived as difficult reasons for such difficulty. In combining quantitative qualitative analyses, data reveal that increases when is not to be familiar by learner. The relationship between familiarity also appears CAF, promoting high easy familiar. findings this study provide support cognitive approach task-based language learning put forward need include TD variable investigate dimensions.
